JACQUELINE WELCH

Jacqueline Welch spent most of her childhood in Northern Wyoming surrounded by a very large family. The menagerie of 10 children she was raised amidst rarely afforded moments of still reflection but those instances had a profound effect on her ability to recognize the graceful artistry in life.

Married at age 16 and a mother at 17, Jacqueline developed a heightened understanding of how snapshots in time can become defining moments and how a sophisticated story can be told by a single image. Most influenced by masterworks from the Renaissance, the life that surrounds us is her subject.

“My hope is to have my art portray a narrative that resonates with the viewer, to enable personal reflection and appreciation for what it is to live and appreciate the life around you.”

Attending Northwest College as a non-traditional student and finally completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Montana State University, the drawing and painting that fed her soul would be set aside to provide for her three daughters. With her children in adulthood, Jacqueline raised a pencil to paper for the first time after 20 years. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and American Women Artists. Her preferred mediums include graphite, charcoal, pastel, watercolor and oil paint.
